Engagement Scholarship Consortium Conference Upcoming

Posted:August 19, 2014

With the fall fast approaching, it is time to start looking forward to the many interesting conferences and events in community-university engagement and knowledge mobilization coming up this year. Among these:

The Engagement Scholarship Consortium is holding its 15th Annual Conference, “Engaging for Change: Changing for Engagement” at the Shaw Conference Centre in downtown Edmonton, Alberta, October 7th & 8th, 2014. Preconference events are taking place October 5th & 6th, including workshops for individuals working in “boundary spanning” roles between the academy and communities, community service learning, and social engagement. Conference highlights include keynote speaker Dr. Rajesh Tandon and a plenary panel on the impacts of community-university engagement.

The challenge of tenure and promotion procedures should not be permitted to unduly limit the growth of the movement for community-university engagement in Canada. A dialogue for action on this issue should be launched and sustained until this obstacle is permanently removed.*
